Character Design Contest ♯76- 2 Great Tastes-Sci-Fi

Ok guys, this week I want you to create an awesome sci-fi character. But this time there's a twist, you have to mix another genre in with it. So for example, you could create a fantasy character in a sci-fi setting, such as a alien paladin or the like. Genres you can choose from include:

Fantasy, Western, Anime, Steam/ Cyber-Punk, Kung-Fu, Superhero, Horror & Everyday

As per usual, no limits on entries this week and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). The winner gets to claim a custom made item from dblade to be put into heromachine, so long as the item conforms to his prize rules, which you can find here: http://www.heromachine.com/forum/the-heromachine-art-gallery/dblades-whiz-bang-item-dispenser/. Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

For the purposes of this contest, how are we defining “sci-fi?” ‘Cause when you think about it, there are a lot of things which could be considered sci-fi. I mean, under some definitions of “sci-fi”, the setting of the game I’m making would count as sci-fi due to the scientific nature of magic, despite the fact that most of the technology in the world is medieval and in most ways the setting resembles a fantasy setting.

    BIO:
Captain Gayle was once a bounty hunter in the American Old West who awoke on the most technologically advanced ship in known human history. Unaware of the ship’s purpose or hers, it seemed made for her, and she deciphered many of the ships controls in a short time. Gayle agreed to the space suit provided by the ship but kept her long coat and found two sidearms, rather than going with some more advanced weaponry that could have been installed her suit.

Gayle has superhuman reflexes, hand-eye coordination, and perfect vision. She is also very intuitive and able to figure out the answer to most problems set before her, especially when it comes to technology.

@Jadebrain- For the purposes of this contest, I’d like you to stick with the stereotypical sci-fi stuff e.g. stuff you’d see in Star Trek/ Star Wars and the like, as you will be mixing it with other genres. With the example you’ve given I would have thought that would be an obvious mix of sci-fi and fantasy.

  4. Lightningsword says:

Can we mix more than one genre withe sci-fi?

The Cyberknight is not exactly happy with being resurrected to help out King Arthur in year 3077

  6. JR19759 says:

@Lightningsword: per picture? No, I’d rather you keep it to one mix per entry.

I probably did something to inspire this one with that whole “what is post-apocalyptic” debate, so I may as well enter.

    Here’s my first submission. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/saint_nate/CaptainZanBok1.png

    (sci-fi & crime)

Identity theft and vehicle identification fraud can lead to being ‘misprofiled.’

It can also lead to unpleasantness.

I had a battle scene planned out, until I realized that I’d loose to much detail, SO I present the head hero from the battle Puck.

    I picked Horror and Sci-fi

What’s worse than dying and waking up undead?
Being undead and waking up half machine.
and drinking through a tube in your neck.

Governments should know better, but rarely do.
    Project: N054A2 aka NOSFORATU
    proceeded despite some heavy oposition
They had a perfect test subject. Secret Agent
    Luther Collins
He had been a spy for his government for over a decade

Once mission he discovered against all rational belive a
vampire. Luther was bit, drained and killed by a vampire,
but staked and took out what would have been his
    vampire master with him.

The Government brought him back home, and waited for
3 days when he rose from the dead then debriefed him of
what happened and his new condition.
After some new training, Luther Collins aka Agent
Nosferatu was was sent back out in the field, this time
    against supernatural enemies.
    He had many successful missions
Unfortunately some decades later.he was ravaged by a
    pack of werewolves

When next he woke from death, he was horrified to see
he was now Project: N054A2, a cyborg vampire!

Wondering if the government would never leave him
along and fearing it would get to a point all he would be
would be a brain in a robot body, he turned on the government to free himself of their evil.

Well, I didn’t realize that the blog was an hour ahead of me, I guess I’ll go ahead and post and see what happens. First time posting, I’ve only been playing with HM for a couple months now. Some hefty competition, but I figured, what the heck, I’ll throw my hat in the ring.

“Mayan Pilot” — Sci-Fi meets Fantasy:

    “Ironspy” — Sci-Fi meets Steampunk:

Incidentally, both of these character designs were inspired by song titles.
