Character Design Contest ♯73- Post Apocalyptic

This week I’m going to give you a bit more freedom. You can design a character, scene, background, weapon or device, just so long as it has a post apocalyptic feeling/ setting. I’m sure you don’t need me to give you examples of post apocalyptic settings, but think ruined cities, dust-bowls, desert gangs, stuff like that.

As per usual, no limits on entries this week and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). The winner gets to claim a custom made item from dblade to be put into heromachine, so long as the item conforms to his prize rules, which you can find here: http://www.heromachine.com/forum/the-heromachine-art-gallery/dblades-whiz-bang-item-dispenser/. Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

  1. The only thing that got Stella through the end of the world? Her Daddy’s trusty Remington .870!

What a coincidence! I just finished this picture this morning. http://www.heromachine.com/forum/the-heromachine-art-gallery/heros-all/page-16/#p42276

  3. Yeeeeeeaaaah…. I think skybandit has got this one

  4. Forgot to ask! My entry this week shows a small amount of blood on the tattered shirt of the character. Is this okay or is it too mature? Is a little more acceptable? I would hate to irritate some parents of users (guess I should have asked before posting) so I appreciate the assistance!

  5. @Viper: As long as it isn’t excessive blood and violence, it’s fine.

  6. @Valyndril- I just have to ask, did you use any external picture editing programs for that piece?

  7. Nope, except for the cropping. I always save my pictures landscape then crop it, I could send an uncropped version if you want (although its the same). The rest is all done on hero machine 3.

  8. Bit of a cliche . . . ‘That Girl Was On Fire,’ a certain landmark in apocalypse.

  9. The end of the world drove Calypso a little batshit crazy, but at least she’s got her trusty mutant pet Spike to keep her company.

  10. I made this one as a tribute to two of my favorite movies. One is about a girl who goes to a strange place and murders the first person she sees, steals her possessions, and then raises an army to kill her victim’s sister. The other had the coolest clothes.

  11. Sorry -image didn’t come through. Trying again …

  12. Was going to make this this morning anyway, go figure, right? I think it turned out pretty well. http://i.imgur.com/sYhpZix.png A scavenger lives day to day, scrounging what little equipment and food he can from the wastes, and hoping that today won’t be the day that the radiation finally kills him.

  13. Ok guys, this weeks contest is now closed. The poll will be up shortly.
