Anime Talk: Open Discussion

As I sit down to write this edition of Anime Talk I find myself drawing a blank on a topic so I have decided to make it an open discussion on all things Anime.  Is there a favorite series you want to recommend? A Favorite Genre of Anime ? A hated series you want to warn us about ? A rant? Any and all things anime are free for your comments in this post, so have at it!

My favourite Anime is Bleach due to it having a good story and likable characters

  2. skybandit says:

Cowboy Bebop rules. No magic aliens, no telepaths, no giant robots, spacecraft that obey the laws of physics, a far-fetched but believable background, and well developed characters. Actual SCIENCE fiction, not Flash Gordon fantasy dressed up with rockets and ray guns. A bit farcical at times, but restrained. And it had a real story with a beginning and (most importantly) an END!

PS: I like General Anime’s uniform, but isn’t she a bit young for such a high rank?

  4. Arioch says:

Yeah, I loved Cowboy Bebop with a passion. It’s like a team of PCs adventuring, with different themes and moods.

Otherwise, Monster, and both FullMetal Alchemist shows.

  5. Yes, thanks for the “fan service.”

Most of my anime exposure was… before recently. Getting hooked on One Piece (thank you, insomnia). Many times, anime doesn’t have a very satisfying end or throws that last minute spin which completely obliterates the story.

I’m still confused as to whether Spike died at the end of Cowboy Bebop or if he was so banged up that he retired. However, Cowboy Bebop had a great balance of plot, action, and humor. It wasn’t goofy or over-the-top. It was plausible with well-rounded characters.

I enjoy writing an anime-based story based on Harlekin’s characters more than I do watching it. Maybe that’s it. I find so many things that I don’t like about anime that I feel compelled to change it!

bebop was a very good anime. though it was always on later then i wanted to stay up lol . I am more on the side of Sword Art or Darker then black. they are my fav of the month.

  7. DC-Lover says:

It wasnt the first I ever watched but it was damn good. I find myself watching alot of anime these days(Thank you college)
So. I would recommend anyone watch it.

  8. TOOL says:

I use to love Dragon Ball Z as a kid, I like Cowboy Bebop too.

I don’t like how a huge focus on a lot of animes is boobs. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against boobs. Boobs are great! But sometimes it just goes over the top. It’s like the writers and artists are trying to satisfy some personal fantasy when they create and display their characters. Or they’re trying to make up for the tiny women that they are surrounded by…? Or a combination of both…? I’ve seen many artists try to hook readers in by using this tactic, but I shouldn’t have to be baited in by things like that. I should want to read them because they’re awesome on so many other levels!
What do you folks think? Too much boobs? Not enough boobs? Not enough cow bell?
