I'm starting to work on the five winning prizes from Character Design Challenge 100. The idea here is that I will use their image as the basis of an illustration. It isn't necessarily to recreate the image they made, or to redraw it, but to do something inspired by it. After all the originals are already kick-ass, I don't know that I could really improve them at all.
First up is the number one vote-getter, Moognation's "Ninja". To refresh your memory, here it is again:
I mostly took the name "Ninja" and the overall dark, sort of broodish cityscape in Moognation's excellent design, and came up with this:
I hope you like it, Moognation!
hmmmmm…. Moognation picture reminds me of the opening of an episode of 2000s TMNT. Jeffs picture reminds me of the next image in the scene, seeing the ninja at the rafters ready to jump you. Personally I think the original looks better although it would be nice seeing the continuation of the story, what the ninja sees.
Awesome! Now I’m really sad I didn’t make it in to the Top 5!
I personally think that your Faux Pas was putting up Morganna, While good, I don’t think that she was your BEST, (MPO) But remember this you were really close!
@ Jeff gr8 over all illo Add the font to my wish list!
Hate to break it to you, but Morganna was Djuby’s entry. DBlade entered his self-titled character.
Honest mistake. One thing dblade and I have in common is our habit of “augmenting” certain parts of the female anatomy. Poor boy was blinded. Follow the sound of my voice! It will pass!
That’s ok, My sleep schedule is eratic and I think I made that comment way “late” that night! 1) sorry to Invoke somebody else on you DBlade! I’ll just say better luck next time.
2) Sorry Djuby, I’ll try not to comment to you without a reason again. I honestly thought you were the one commenting.
Congrats, Moognation. Well executed design. Though I must admit, I was not surprised by the final results of the poll. ;9
And, Jeff, I like the lighting on your ninja. Like he is looking down into a busy warehouse.
It’s no big deal. Feel free to comment away.
That’s wicked cool, Jeff! I’m way honored to get an original Hebert inspired by a character I did with this amazing ‘machine you’ve created.
Thanks so much!
Plus the all powerful “D”!
And yes, I have a real penchant for prominent foreheads. You caught me!
