I want to take this time to apologize on behalf of the Heromachine staff to the community for today’s extended outage. As soon as I discovered the site not working this morning I contacted Jeff about it and he went to work on it right away,  and has been hard at work  all day long working to get things back up and running smooth for us all! I want to ask you at this time to keep an eye on how things are running  for you and if you see any wonky behavior anywhere on Heromachine.com to either email me at Kaldath@gmail.com , or contact Jeff directly at afdstudios@gmail.com and let us know about it. Jeff is looking into options new to minimize future outages, however if another outage happens you can go out the Heromachine facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/pages/HeroMachine/267161975232 ) to keep up to date on the sites status.

The current set of Backgrounds features two planets in the “Floor” set. The “Sky” set has a window, a wall, and a street corner. It makes no sense.

I’d like to rationalize these in some way and have them all make sense. But if I go mucking about and change the items, your saved characters will all of a sudden have something totally different in place when you load it, if you used one of the items (like the aforementioned floor planets).

Which would you rather, potentially having strange saved files, or having Background sets that make sense and were grouped sensibly?

I installed WordPress’ “JetPack” plugin today, which among other things will give you some additional “share” options and a way for you to “like” a variety of content around the site. I’m not sure how that’s going to play with the forums, so please let me know if you see any weirdness there. Or anywhere, really, because I’m all about the funkiness.

I’m also trying out their auto-publicize feature, which will put all posts on Facebook and Twitter. I’m hoping they come through with images intact, which HootSuite (the previous solution) did not do. We’ll see.

As part of the effort to stop the hacking of the site, I’m about to reset everyone’s passwords. My apologies, but it looks like that might be where the problem is happening so this is one way to combat it.

Update: I just completed the reset. You should get your new auto-generated random password by email. If you don’t have it, check your spam folder, it might be in there. Or, you can go directly to https://www.heromachine.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword to reset it manually with either your site username or registered email address.

My apologies for the irritation, believe me, I’m feeling it too.

Hi folks, this is Ye Olde HeroMachine Creator Jeff, and I’d like to get your help. Now that the first rush of panic over losing my job has passed and HeroMachine seems to be well on its way to supporting us financially, the time has come to take stock of where we are and what we ought to be doing next. I’ve put together a survey to get some idea of who uses the site for what now, and what you want it to be in the future.
