Honourable Mentions- Son4, Keric, Thundersong, Ubiquitous Pixel, MadJack (basically enough to have a second poll. As per usual, the costume contest was a pain in the butt to judge 😉 ).

Now that’s more like it. We managed to get back up to our usual poll participation level for this week, which, after last week, is a relief. And it was an interesting weeks worth of voting, with our eventual winner having to fend off second place at every turn, only to pull ahead at the last minute to take the win. And the person to whom I refer is djuby for his excellent (if untitled) entry. Congrats djuby and well done to everyone who entered.

This weeks COTW was very hard to choose. There have been at least 4 or 5 creations that could easily have got the nod, from such awesome creators as AMS, Headlessgeneral, Vectorman316 and Suleman, but in the end I felt compelled for some unknown reason to go for this pic by Mr. Nobody. It’s a very good example of less being more when it comes to art, the entire atmosphere and impact of the picture coming from a two colour background and a blacked out figure. It may not sound like much, but I’m sure you’ll agree, the effect is striking to say the least.

Of course, I am making a habit of having costume design contests on an annual basis, so this is going to be this years. However, to make it a bit different, I would like to ask that you only focus on the costume, at the expense of everything else. Some slight posing is allowed if it is to show of different aspects of the costume, but other than that I only want face-forward standard posing, and hair is only allowed if the costume includes so sort of fascinator or other hair accessory. If you want to do shading on the costume, that’s fine, but other than that I want the body to be a completely blank slate, like a mannequin, it can’t even have a face. I’m only going to be looking at the costume, so I think it’s only fair that you guys do too.
As per usual, no limits on entries and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.
Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

A little better turn out from last time which is great, but you guys are making this very tough. All of these entries are so creative and unique.
First we have Black Tarantula by Mr. Nobody: Really cool and graphic; love the hypnotic background and the squad of little demons.
Next is Silver Lady by Melmo: Very unearthly look and like the pattern work.
Blunt Object’s Madam Satan: very interesting colour combination and the creation of the skirt layers is quite cool.
Another Silver Lady – this time by Geno: taking her into the realm of TV was a great idea. Sort of an evil…or more evil…Long Island Medium.
And last, but not least, Whirling Dervish by Brons: great work on the pose and robes.
I’ve gone back and forth a dozen times on this, but the win this time goes to Geno for Silver Lady. The whole image is striking and is a very interesting take on the character.
(To illustrate how tough this was, I have rewritten the previous paragraph three times…with different winners!)
Congratulations Geno, and thanks to all who entered.
