So, I don't know if everyone has been reading all of the comments for this weeks CDC, but there has been some discussion (amongst the obvious definitions of when certain "ages" of comics start/ end) between myself and William Peterson about the merit of modern comic book art styles. WillyPete hates them, judging by his comments, whereas I, who has grown up with this sort of art being the norm, quite like them. So I want to get your guys opinion on it. Do you like the art style of modern comics, or do you prefer the older silver/ bronze age art styles?
For the sake of ease we'll define Silver Age as the 1960's, Bronze Age as 1970's and the Modern Age as post 2000, just to clear up any confusion and to make sure we don't go into the 90's hate again, because we can all agree that was mostly rubbish and anyway that's not what I'm talking about.
Also, if you guys want me to make this an on-going weekly blog post again like it was last summer, I'm open to it. I've got one, maybe two ideas for questions, but if you want to make suggestions, I will take those into consideration.

It is interesting to note that as WillyPete pointed out though the vote was so heavily slanted towards loving it yet no one from that camp came forward to tell us way. Ok guys, we're going to skip over the Bronze Age this week and go straight into the Modern Age of comics. This means you've got a bit more leeway on your character design, as this period covers the 80's, 90's and the 21st century, so hopefully you'll find something inspiring amongst those three.
As per usual, no limits on entries this week and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Okay, so we all know the editorial staff at Marvel have been making some…… let's be kind to them and say, interesting decisions over the last 7 or so years, but really I don't know what to say about this one.

So, there is a precedent for this, al-be-it a veeeeeeery flimsy one. After the events of the Ragnarok storyline in Thors comics, Loki possesses the body of Sif for a while. But that's a very weak precedent for this sort of thing. I mean Thor is Thor, big bloke with a hammer. The only time in the original Viking legends he comes close to going TG (that's transgender for those of you who don't know) is when he cross dressed in order to sneak into the hall of some giants who had stolen his hammer from him. One has to wonder why Marvel are doing this. I'm all for having more major female heroes, but this doesn't strike me as the way to do it. I mean Thor isn't a title it's a name, it's a character. Captain America is a title, The Hulk is a title, Thor is not (not that I'm saying they need to replace Cap or Hulk with female versions, we already have one for the Hulk in She-Hulk and the last time Cap was replaced it lasted all of 5 seconds before Steve Rodgers was back in the spandex). Or we could do the smart thing and just introduce more female heroes, without screwing with established characters.
But that's not the only thing I have for you guys today. Nope from movie land we have this piece of absurdity.
So, let me get this straight, you're going to be making a comic book based superhero movie, right, with characters with 50+ years worth of backstory and history, right, but you're not going to be paying attention to any of it? Plus, to stick a dagger right into the heart of all the fans, you're not even going to be using the team name at all outside of the title? Really?
Really?
I'm done. Bye. I have nothing more to say on this matter.

I am bringing "Poll Position" out of semi-retirement to discuss this new Batgirl costume. What I want to know is weather you the HeroMachine community "Love", "Hate", or are just plain old "Meh..." to this design?

Here are my feelings on the redesign. While I think this is a nice looking costume and well designed with the exception of the combat boots which are just way to clunky looking for me, I do not feel this is a good fit for Batgirl. I just don't think it works for a acrobatic, martial arts using, non-super powered crime fighter. The aforementioned boots give the outfit a sense of being weighted down and slowing especially in comparison to the sleeker look to the rest of the costume, and the leather jacket looks like it would restrict her movements, especially in the shoulder area making it difficult to fight in.
So in conclusion while I like the costume in general, on Batgirl I Hate it. So what are your opinions? Lets us know what you think by voting in the poll and by commenting below.
