Quick hat related question.

Does anyone know if the symbols on this hat actually mean anything? Asian writing systems are not my strong suit, I’m afraid.

Well, I don’t know, but I think it’s something from northeastern/eastern Asia. Libya, Afghanistan or Myanmar maybe.

I don’t believe it is actually based on a real-world script. I lived in Japan for the better part of last year and I know it’s not Japanese or Chinese (since Japanese ‘kanji’ are borrowed from Chinese ‘hanzi’). They are not kana, the syllabary of Japanese which was added to the borrowed characters. It does not look like Korean, as their writing is distinct in having lots of circular shapes and short lines.

I believe the writing is just meant to mimic the look of eastern written languages.
