How do you do glows and proper shading on characters? Ive notices a few have more than just the standard Cel shading, do you have to touch it up in photoshop or is there a way to do it in HM?

You can do it in HM. Masking is one way. You may want to talk with Ams, Kaldath, or dBlade(a few others too) because they do it more then I do.

Its done using a background item. Background > Shapes > Last Page > top Row >3rd item. It is one of the two Gradient circles. Set color 1 and Line color to o transparency. Select the color you want the glow, hightlight, or shadow to be and set it to color two and play around with the transparency til you get the effect you are looking for.  For Glow effect I tend to sit around a 30% – 50% for Shadows or Highlights I sometimes go higher depending on how dark or bring I want the highlight or shadow to be.   Once you have the color the way you want it, play with the size and shape of the circle.

Try this, Virtue. http://forums.ugo.com/showthre…..post684797

This is the way I highlight or shade my pics.  After you get the basics down, the secret is color choice.  Don't be shy on trying a variety of color.  Cheers!

Hey fellas, this is more of a copyright question really, but are we allowed to do characters from our favorite plays and stuff like that? Or would that be a problem?

I would have to say it depends on the Play. The Plays of William Shakespeare are in the Public Domain so you could do Macbeth, King Leer Etc

However Spider-Man Turn off the Dark characters are off limits as ol Web head and crew are under copyright.

Best rule of thumb here is, if you do not know with 100% certainty and can prove it if challenged weather the characters depicted in a given play are Public Domain you should not post them.

Ok. Because I was wondering if a character from Les Miserables would be considered acceptable. Thanks for the help!

Hey, how do you save a character as a text file? I'm sure it's a necessary step, I just haven't figured it out yet. Thanks!

Just click the Save Button, then click on the Text Tab. Copy all the text in the box to notepad or your favorite word processing program and you're all set. To reload the character just hit the load button again click to the Text Tab and paste the text back in.
