OfflineThe challenge was to design an interesting face. I'm not good at faces. So, I created a bunch of close-ups.
As you can tell by the character's name, I am not a fan of that particular style of "music."

OfflineThanks, Scatman. Hope you and yours are safe and dry!
I am a fan of this particular style of music. A tribute to Bob Seger and motorcycle enthusiasts everywhere.

OfflineTip of the gas mask to Nicole Chilelli for winning SyFy's Season 3 of "Face Off." Her "alien cyborg" in the lead up to the finale blew me away. I was skeptical about the show when I picked it up midway through Season 2. What hooked me is that the competition reflects a lot of the happenings on HeroMachine. Amateurs, hopefuls, hobbyists, and professionals coming together to create, share, challenge, and learn.
This one came out a visually dark; nonetheless, I think the subject is understood and effective.

OfflineThanks, Weilyn. Definitely check it out.
This character was inspired by a certain 1990's TV show starring two FBI agents who would investigate paranormal activity. (Hint: Gillian Anderson is still hot!)

OfflineThe bad guy is cock-eyed. He is supposed to be staring off to his left – watching the SWAT team off-camera. Instead, his left eye seems to loosely stare at the victim.

OfflineAgain, this contest is about designing a face. Since I am not great at designing faces, I used this as an exercise in directly editing the text files. This is when I also discovered that the first Head that you place becomes the design's "anchor." Keep that in mind when you are creating off-center or wide designs. It does affect how your picture exports. Simply use multiple Heads. Set the first Head to Layer 1 behind your Background or as Aura 0 to make it transparent / invisible.
Anyway, the elk drawn on the cave wall is actually the Hand Drum found in Items. The maximum re-size in HeroMachine is 999. I went directly into the text file to set the size around 3000, if I remember correctly. I like the result.

OfflineThanks, Weilyn. I wish I had some way to turn "Ethical Dilemma" into an animated short.
Also, thanks to everyone who pops in now and then to view my retrospect. I've been in a real funk. Not much on the creative side. Going through my old material is a great diversion.
Character Contest 71 – In the Cards
Ok, I skipped a number or two somewhere. Moving on. The challenge this time was to design cards such as playing or tarot or card-themed characters.
Here are two versions of my "Goblin King." I prefer the inverse color scheme.

Character Contest 71 – In the Cards
As the saying goes, there's no place like home:
And since that was such a cheap gag, here's another entry. Dominoes are tiles not cards. Still, it is a parlor game. I love playing dominoes. Particularly the classic (now politically incorrect) Mexican Train with double-six high.

OfflineI knew that I skipped a number. Continuing with the Zodiac: Leo. I went with an obvious reference. Most historians say that he was born on September 13th, which makes him a Virgo. My straight-forward depiction of "The Absent King," Richard Cœur de Lion.
