Well I highly doubt the ads will be coming down, as if Jeff can't make enough money to pay for his web hosting, the site and the program will disappear as he is no longer being financially back by UGO or any other company and is on his own. You can bring your concerns about the ads to him directly by going to the main blog page and click the contact us link in the banner to send him an email.

Quote: "People once believed, that when someone dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes, something so bad happens, that a terrible sadness is carried with it and the soul can't rest. Then sometimes, just sometimes the crow could bring that soul back to put the wrong things right." . ~~ Opening Narration from "The Crow" ~~

Yeah, I've had the same problem. I know that HeroMachine needs to advertise, and that's cool, but if the ads could open in a separate window it would save a lot of creators the frustration of losing a character they've worked really hard on.

Have you checked out the thread Hudson's Heroes?

Using a different browser (Firefox or Chrome) may help with this. I find that they make the links in the HM window "unclickable", although the banner ads/front page ads still work fine.

Other than that, you'll just have to remember to save the text files for your characters. It's always a good idea as all sorts of things – Flash updates, drive cleaners, etc – can wipe away all your hard work.

If you're not sure how to do that, there's a tutorial here:
