    “Oracle Girl”

Let me say first that I am very reluctant to post this Recipe. It is my creation and unique. If it were not for HeroMachine, it might not even exist. But then, Crayola makes the crayons. It is up to me to imagine, draw, color, shade, and texture the picture.

I am really proud of this design. My fellow HM’ers gave very positive feedback. Also, I borrow a lot from others’ Recipes and techniques. With that spirit of sharing and community, here is my background for Oracle Girl. Enjoy for your characters or simply to study how I came up with the effects. Honestly, I just tweaked the colors and transparencies until it looked cool to me.

You just need to add the text string so that people can get the image you created on there own computers. To get and save the text string here is a tutorial made by our own talented Kaylin88100 : http://www.heromachine.com/forum/tips-tricks-how-tos-and-guides/kaylins-tutorials/#p9836

and to see how to post that file to the forum here are instructions written up by the Bald Avenger himself Jeff: http://www.heromachine.com/forum/the-heromachine-art-gallery/how-to-post-your-character/#p9634

I am having a bit of a problem in that respect. When I go to View Existing File Uploads it isn’t showing anything even though I have two files uploaded. I’ve tried this with both rtf and txt files and it still won’t show. Any advice?

When you click on the view existing file button does it show a popup menu with a folder marked 2012 ? If not do you have any popup blockers enabled ? If you are seeing this folder click on the writing not the folder icon to open it and it will show a bunch of folders with the numerical value for the month that you uploaded a file in this case 10. Again click on the writing not the icon to open it and your file should be in there.

Try changing web browsers. Are you using IE?

I enjoy doing an occasional starscape, but I often find the scale of the stars on the existing background item to be distracting at full size. I’ve tried doing a grid of four quarter-scale pieces, but that gives an unnatural, repetitious uniformity. Finally, I put together a pastiche of twenty-something pieces at 40%, rotated and overlaid on each other in random ways. There’s still a discernible pattern, but once I start putting stars, planets, etc. on top, the pattern becomes less obvious. It’s a go-to background for me now; I thought others might like it.
