Hello fellow Machiners!
Welcome to the very first Villainy and Valor Creation Contest. For each contest I will write a description of a hero or villain and it will be up to you to visually interpret that character using Hero Machine 3. After two weeks (Tuesday, November 20th) I will choose my favorite design and the Winner will get a Custom Item created by me (see rules below). I will then submit this item to Jeff for inclusion in Hero Machine. If this first contest is a success I will try to continue to run these contests (maybe once or twice a month).

A few guidelines/rules:
1. No limit of entries
2. A full body design is preferable.
3. Feel free to use backgrounds, but they will not affect my final choice.

So here we go….

Neurotica
Neurotica is a super villain with mind-warping powers that cause her victims to hallucinate and act extremely irrational. Neurotica has some degree of control over this power in that she can decide the general urges her victim feels (hyper violent, pathetic sadness, hysterical joy, etc…) but not the specifics of the delusions. Neurotica is a beautiful and sexy woman but there is something unsettling in her appearance. It is obvious after talking to her for a moment or two that she has a fragile grasp on reality. Neurotica sees herself as a performance artist creating beautiful expressions of human emotion around her. Neurotica is a member of the villainous Femme Fattalion, whose leader expertly manipulates Neurotica to use her powers for monetary gain.

Villainy and Valor Item Creation Rules
1. The Villainy and Valor Contest Winner can choose one new item to be created for any existing category in Hero Machine 3 with the exception of these categories: Backgrounds, Companions. I also reserve the right to exclude monster bodies, but you can try me on this one. Sometimes I will take the bait.
2. The new item must be applicable to the default, front-facing body type. No specialized items for alternate body types (turned head, 3/4 torso, back view, etc…)
3. I reserve the right to ask the Villainy and Valor Contest Winner to pick another item if the request is beyond my ability or inappropriate for Hero Machine 3.
4. Reference images or a really good description must be provided so I can fulfill the request with the minimal amount of heartache and frustration.
So there you have it. As many of you are familiar with my contributions you know I can handle a wide range of art requests so don’t let the guidelines scare you. I do have limitations (damn you, Human Hair!!) so please be understanding if I have to decline a request.

As a special incentive anyone who does all 5 entries in this Femme Fattalion set of villains (Neurotica, Gigantica, Ms. Manga, Madame Malevolent, Evil M henchwoman) will get to request a Mask Custom Item.
So even if you don't win one of the 5 main prizes, you'll be able to guarantee yourself a little something just by entering every one of the Femme Fattalion contests.

Hey dblade I was wondering if you might of missed this but is there a limit on how many entries someone has if you want a background or just a portrait image. Just a couple of details i wanted to ask you about first.

"All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy. That's how far the world is from where I am. Just one bad day. You had a bad day once. Am I right? I know I am. I can tell. You had a bad day and everything changed. Why else would you dress up like a flying rat?"

No limit of entries. Background is fine. I'm partial to a full body image so the full design can be seen. I'll edit the first post with some guidelines.

Naw. I just didn't want anyone slacking and giving me just a face shot (or chest shot for that matter). Laugh

Two very nice entries so far. Great job!

I'll let you in on a little secret. I plan to run a supers game at GenCon next year and thought it would be fun to have fellow Machiners create the visuals for the villains (the Femme Fattalion) I'm going to use. Plus I wanted to stimulate my artistic drive to create some more HM3 items. Nothing better than committing to a contest prize.

So just to give people a little preview of upcoming contests, here are the names of the other Femme Fattalion members…

Madame Malevolent
Ms. Manga
Gigantica

Plus the standard uniform of the Evil Ms, the henchwomen of Madame Malevolent.

Hmmm. Not as much interest in the contest as I hoped. I thought the offer of a Custom Item prize might be enticing enough to get some more bites. Of course I did set a long window of time for entries so maybe some pieces are still coming.

I think it's just the big time frame. At least that's the case with me. I'll definitely be entering this one.

Im deffinitly interested in this contests. Iv just been swamped with work and plus whenever I get home my internet doesnt seem to wanna work but its coming.

I wanted to ask you dblade, are we able to use the creations here in our galleries? I know its our own work and what not but you are technically coming up with the names and I think some are pretty interesting and wouldnt mind using them.

Feel free to post in your gallery. The visual representations are all yours so I wouldn't presume to have any say in their use. Besides you could always rename your entry if I gave you any trouble. :)

Ah, reasons. We all have them, at times.

Dirty pool, dblade! You know I'm a sucker for new items. Any update or forecast for the items you have submitted? It has been a long drought for new toys to play with and it is coming to Christmas time!
