Going to the Dogs

I've just uploaded the "Companion-Dogs" set of items for HeroMachine 3 featuring some from the existing Companions and a lot of brand new ones. Hope you like them!

The Room is Now Available

I've just updated HeroMachine 3 with a new set of items, "Background-Rooms". Currently they're all domestic home style interiors, though more exotic stuff I am sure can come later. Before I do too many of these I wanted to get some feedback as to how they work.

The main drawback is that the Patterns don't really work all that well with them, but I think that's probably just something we'll have to live with for now.

What do you think about furniture?

I'm considering adding a set of items to the "Background" slot that would contain set decoration types of things like beds, chairs, walls, doors, etc. Stuff like this:

Would that sort of thing be helpful?

New Companions

I've just added the following three items to the "Companion-Humanoids" set. Enjoy!

HM3: Female Masks

I've just updated HeroMachine 3 with the "Headgear-Mask-Female" set. Previously when using the existing headgear sets, the default placement was too high and the head outline wasn't really right for female figures. When I first planned out HM3 the thought was that these items would be generic and if you picked a female body I'd just programmatically move items to whatever the new default position/scaling was. That didn't really work out. So now I'm going back through and manually fixing these sorts of sets that just don't quite fit properly.

I'll move on to the rest of the Headgear items next, but I thought the Masks were the most pressing. On some of these I just moved them into place, but for others I actually redrew the head outlines and reshaped the shadow color areas. I hope this helps make the creation of female characters easier and more rewarding.

HM3: HandLeft-Female Now Available

Finishing the collection of female-specific hands, I've just made "HandLeft-Female" available for HeroMachine 3 to go with its right-side sister. Enjoy! As always, you may have to clear your browser's cache to see the new options appear.

HM3: GloveLeft-Female now live

I've just uploaded the "GloveLeft-Female" set to HeroMachine 3 to complement the GloveRight-Female items from yesterday. As always, you might need to clear your cache to see the new option.

HM3: It’s a new set of items! It’s a new set of items!

"New" might be a bit of a misnomer, but I've just released the "GloveRight-Female" set to HeroMachine 3. You may have to clear your cache for it to show but the file's there. Enjoy!

I'm going through and updating the current male-only items to female versions where needed. Then I'll do the flipover of right-only items to left. It's possible along the way I'll add some completely new, never before seen items as well so put your thinking caps on.

HM3 Save Dialog Bug Fix

Earlier today I changed a setting for how ads are displayed in HM3. In a word, it was broken before -- ads weren't clickable in most of the major browsers. So I changed the stacking order of the app and the ad and now the ads actually function. Hooray! Before they were just annoying without actually generating revenue but now they do both!

Unfortunately that introduced several problems, one of which was the cancel button on the Save dialog box was obscured by the ad. That's been fixed now (you might have to clear your browser cache).

The other major problem is that the ads also show on the full-screen preview. I don't know how to fix that but I'll start working on it tomorrow.

I’m Podcasted!

ep110I had my first ever audio interview with the great folks at "Creative Commoners", in an episode airing today. We talked about all things HeroMachine, with featured shout-outs to Kaldath, Hammerknight, DiCicatriz, MSchute, and more. I hope you check it out and if you do, please let me know what you think. It turns out talking about yourself for an hour is pretty intimidating, but luckily the hosts were all funny, kind, and professional and I ended up having a really good time.
