Due to the beautiful weather we are having here in Texas and the fact it is time to garden, I am making a small change to the weekly post for a week or two.

Mondays, Character Design Contest.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays, are Kaldath's babies so no change there.

Wednesday Nights Specials, will be put on hold.

Thursdays, Will be the weekday Open Critique Day.

Fridays, Share Day.

Saturdays, Quick and Easy Challenge.

Sundays, will be weekend Open Critique Day.

Remember this is only for a short time, after I get the garden put in it will be back to the old weekly time line. This will also be a good time to make any suggestion that you may have about what you would like to see on the blog.

Once again I have to say that this is a challenge so there will be no prizes offered at this time. (But I am working on something, but it will take some time before it is ready.) No limit, so have fun creating.

Belting out the bad costumes!

This week for your mocking pleasure I present to you Citizen V.

I have never heard of this character before and  only came across him while reseaching this weeks Bad costume. That being said I honestly can't tell you anything about him except what you can see with your own eyes. So now lets start the critique with his Shoulder pads. While I have no objection to a stars and stripes theme for a character I do not think it is being pulled off here as well as it could be. I think my main objection to them is the fact that the  Stars and the white stripes are raised from the rest of the shoulder pads which just looks odd to me.

 

Next is his mask. I am not sure what about it bothers me so much as I have seen other similarly designed masks that have worked well, but something about it here is just off putting. And lastly, we have in the past pointed out the overuse of belts and straps in costumes but this fellow must have gotten a great discount on a mass purchase of belts!! Not only does he have his belt wrapped 6 or 7 times about his waist, he also has his feet and forearms completely wrapped in them as well.

 

All in all I think the character design had some potential but it failed to deliver upon it in the end!!

 

Those are my thoughts on Citizen V, I'd be interested in hearing yours! Leave a comment below tell me what you think of this costume. Is it as bad as I think or am I way off on this one ?

This should be an interesting match up as both women are masters of multiple martial arts which should put them on par with each other in fighting ability. So the deciding factor in this fight will be the difference in their abilities. Cheshire is a master of poison and coats all her weapons in potent toxins as well has the fact that she has false razor sharp finger nails which are also envenomed. Elektra on the other hand has the ability to mesmerize people causing them to see illusions or other phenomena.

 

So in this fight it comes down to which you believe is the more powerful edge poisons, or illusions. For me this one is too close to call, so I leave it to you to decide! Go ahead leave your vote as to who wins this battle and comment below as to your reasons why.

Character Contest #H07 “The Nature of Wings” Winner

All I can say is wow. Forty-nine entries this week I believe that is the most entries for a contest since I took over for Jeff. They all were great and it was another hard one to judge, I like them all. When I judge a contest one of the things that I look for is how much  the people pay attention to the description of the contest. For an example, the title of this contest was "The Nature  of Wings", hence I was looking for wings that nature provides. Yes I am a true believer of "attention to detail" as a lot of you know already. I have picked out a top ten list  and here they are in no particular order.

 

ams- The Raven (winged warrior crime fighter)

AMS, did a wonderful job as always. The pose and the color scheme are great. And the shading is above and beyond.

 

blaq aries- Gargoyle

Blaq Aries, WOW, that pose is killer. And the background is a very cool design.

 

 

dblade- Vrax (demon)

Dblade, you are out of the box with your use of items. Great color and shading as well.

 

djuby- Faerie

Djuby, this is truly a jaw dropping character. WOW is the only way I can think of to describe it.

 

Kaldath- Chime (windpuff sprite)

Kaldath, great character design and a stellar background.

 

Kellkin- The Guardian

Kellkin, simple but very impressive.

 

 

Kellkin- The Valkyrie

Kellkin, you did a wonderful job with the character in her arms. Great.

 

Skybandit- Sayt-N

Skybandit, what can I say, you have been entering some down right wonderful characters.

 

Tool- Angel Warrior

Tool, great work on bringing together the armor and the wings.

 

Tool- Eagle Warrior

Tool, another great character, it has a wonderful native feel to it.

But as they say, there can be only one. And this weeks winner is Blaq Aries. Your gargoyle is great and the background makes the character jump off the screen at you. Great job everyone. I'm looking forward to seeing more characters from every Hero Machiner out there.

P.S. Sorry for the short sweet post, I was working outside today and ended up getting blisters on a couple of my fingers and the skin came off. So fingers are raw and it's hard to work the mouse. I'll post all the entries by the end of the week.
