Masthead voting

We’re trying something starting with this week’s contest (Character Contest 25) — You get to pick the winner! I’ve selected the submissions that I feel are particularly worth of inclusion, our Honorable Mentions from which you, the voting public, will select a winner.

Even better, you can vote for however many entries you think are worthy of the win. So if you’re the kind of person who has trouble deciding between two great choices, this is the poll for you!

I’ll close voting next Monday, when the next contest is announced. If this goes well, we’ll try the voting thing again.

Good luck to everyone, and congratulations to the following Honorable Mentions, may the Most Honorable Mention win!

HM3: Body Alternate final update

I’ve added the broken-up legs to the Body-MaleAlternate set of items in the HeroMachine 3 Alpha. I also fixed the problem with that one arm not working (thanks MartianBlue!).

No, this is not the final set of body parts. I want to consolidate at least all the legs into a separate set (maybe in Feet?), including at least one set of feline-like furry animal type legs. And I also need to put the new hands into the Hands slot.

So, yeah. Lots to do still, even with just the items from this set of twelve bodies. After that, we’ll see.

Poll Position: Haveatar

Your Poll Position for the week is:

James Cameron takes over comics and gives you the ability to "Avatar" (take over the body of) one super-hero like in the movie. Who do you choose?

To be clear, the world of the comics character is real. You would continue living your life here in our reality, but you could go into a cyber tank and take control over the target’s body, which would lie inert and lifeless while you were not jacked in. So basically it would be their body and your mind, but only while you’re awake and in the pod.

So given that, let’s talk about what selection you’d make.

SOD.019

019

This one also turned out more finished than I planned. I think maybe he’s Namor’s kid brother or nephew or adopted ward or something. From the countryside of Atlantis with that mullet, it seems.

Caption Contest 68 – The game is afoot!

Starting this week I am moving contests to Mondays*, so heads-up on that. And to “kick” off the change, your challenge this week is to come up with the funniest replacement dialog for this blank comic book panel:

Yeah, good luck with that! The rules are simple:

  • Entries must be made as a comment (or comments) to this post;
  • Keep it relatively clean (appropriate for late-night broadcast TV at worst);
  • No more than three entries per person, so use your best stuff!

I’ll announce a winner next Monday, who will receive their choice of either any item of their choice, or a portrait of themselves, either of which will be included in the final HeroMachine 3 version.

Good luck everyone!

*The current character contest will be judged tomorrow as per the old system, with the next coming next Monday instead of next Tuesday, then we’ll be completely on the new schedule.

SOD.017 – Girl with gun

This one started out from a reference photo, and while I meant it to be a quick sketch it turned into an actual illustration. Sometimes it happens like that. No screen cast as it was all sort of accidental.
