is Cap Yelling for Zemo to rescue him? Or because he didn't find him yet? Because he doesn't seem to be heading toward him at all...
Also I think Steranko/Frey had Cap going headlong in his oponents with all his might while Rob gets Cap kicking and punching in two oposite directions at once which prevent either strike to have ant strength ... (especially without grounding to the floor ...

Original = Dynamic action scene with heroic character engaging in bad-guy asskicking

L:iefield's version = Cap'n being thrown clumsily away from the reader by unsee assailants who are obviously more powerful than the Cap'n.

Cap'n America = symbol of America's military and self-appointed-moral superiority. Cap'n america kicking ass reinforces this view. Capn america being beaten easily suggests America ain't all it's propoganda cracks it up to be.

Therefore Liefield's depoiction of the cap = sedition and anti-America sentiments at least, possibly treason if it can be proved that he did this knowing it's potential to influence the minds of future generations.

ARREST ROB LIEFIELD FOR TREASON!

I've heard there's another rule about the optics of comics: the dynamics in the panel must flow in the reading's direction (I know this because I'm israeli, and hebrew is written from right to left, and thus our comics too). Frey and Steranko had balanced their seemingly "backwards" panel (Cap is thrown against dynamic direction) with that gunfire zooming across the panel. Imagine that red\yellow stripe weren't there. Why imagine? You have Liefeld demonstrating that for you. Now don't you miss that gunfire zooming off to the right?

*looks at Liefeld's rendition of Cap* Dear God! Put a wallet under his tongue. ;P

Rob, don't ever try to match or top the masters. Especially Jim Steranko.

Joy! My Friday is saved! Yay! :D

Seriously, the BEST part of this series is the lecture of "why this is wrong", because it gives a better insight to the fine art of comics.

I wanted to point out that even in Steranko's version, there's enough room between the bottom of the foot and the panel border to accomplish the same thing as Frey's layout. The big problem with Liefeld's is that the foot is connected to the thug who's smashed into the border. That connectedness is what stops the action. Give enough freedom around the foot and you're fine.
