On the topic of poll voting... my only hesitation would be that it would risk becomming more compeitive, especially as ther'es no need to log onto the site or register in any way, meaning that one person could vote from multiple computers or get a bunch of friends to vote (and lets face it, anyone whose been involved in something as innocuous as a round of Scissors, Paper, Rock will know that there are people out there who take any competition WAY too seriously) and this might take the enjoyment out of it for some of the newcommers if they feel they're up against an entrenched clique.

I'm in favour of the 'whatever tickles Jeff's funny-bone' approach to the whole thing.

Maybe you should poll peope for their preferences ;-)

I guess how workable it is might depend on how many people vote. If the only people who bother to vote are the finalists and their close friends, the results could be kind of skewed--I, for instance, have no close friends :P.

Either way is fine, though.

I'd still be able to do four a month, one each week, it's just that the decision would take two weeks to arrive at instead of the current one.

Tuesday1: Launch contest.
Tuesday2: Announce five finalists, put up a poll. Launch new contest.
Tuesday3: Poll for first contest closes and winner is announced. Five finalists for contest2 are announced and a poll for contest2 is put up. Launch contest 3.

And so on. Every Tuesday would have a new contest launching, the previous week's contest semi-finalists would be put into a poll, and the two-weeks-prior poll would close revealing the winner.

I like the idea of the poll but it would cut the contest down to 2 a month which is both good and bad. It's good because it makes it so you only have to draw two black and white sketches so you would have more free time to work on other things but its bad cause it would drop my chances of winning drasticly.

Which would be easier. Drawing 4 sketches in a month or setting up polls?
